Project Mockingbird was a hidden campaign launched by the Agency in the early 1950s. Its goal was to control the press and sway public perception.The Agency enlisted media personnel and penetrated major press bodies to disseminate narratives that supported their missions. This campaign comprised placing fake stories and silencing dissenting voices.
